I'm My Own Cliche

Saturday, February 7th, 2009

When you go to dinner with your best friend and effectively polish off about 2/3 of the bottle of Sauvignon Blanc you brought, then walk a block to Second City for the show you had bought tickets to for you and your (then) long distance boyfriend, only to down another two glasses of wine while laughing mercilessly at their take on how fucked we all are in “today’s economy,” and finally arrive home to a dessert of animal crackers and *NEW* Cherry 7-Up Antioxidant; maybe don’t decide now’s a good time to tell that now ex-long distance boyfriend what you were up to tonight that made you think of him, while simultaneously trying to come off as all “well, I suck at this, but I’m human and oh, by the way, I’m coming there next weekend.”

Yeah, maybe don’t leave that sort of voicemail. Maybe don’t leave any sort of  voicemail. At all. Ever.

FAIL.

  1. EPIC, sister. Keep us posted on reaction!

My version of this has a name: the pinot grigio effect. Been there.

  2. Updates are likely to be scarce. It would seem that “This whole long distance thing isn’t working” was also code for “You’re dead to me now.”

Can I just tell you how AWESOME that feels?
