Scrooged

Last night, I woke up as the TV in my bedroom turned on to a blank blue screen. My entire room was bathed in its bright tinge. Looks like my ghost has come back just in time to haunt me for Christmas.
About a year ago, my old Panasonic TV/ VCR combo from college began turning on in the middle of the night for no apparent reason. At first, I thought maybe I had rolled over on the remote, but the remote was never in bed with me. Then, I thought maybe it was a power surge or something, but it’s always been plugged into a surge protector. I even searched online for any “wrong doing” that may have happened in my apartment before I moved in, but found nothing. So for months it continued like that. It was strange, but not that big a deal. At least that’s what I told myself.
What finally did me in was the night French Kiss (one of my all time favorite movies) somehow ended up inside the VCR and started playing. As much as I enjoy the movie, I decidedly do not enjoy trying to figure out how it managed to push itself into the VCR at 3 in the morning. I unplugged the TV forthwith and didn’t sleep the rest of the night.
I guess that pissed off the ghost because it was then that my ginormous Case Logic of CDs (remember those?) tumbled off the shelf by the TV and settled on top of the unplugged cord in the middle of the night. Always in the middle of the night! Like I don’t have a hard enough time staying asleep!
But then it got quiet. With the TV unplugged and the tapes removed and the CDs stowed elsewhere, it was just me again. The ghost went away and left me to wake up and not sleep on my own accord. And so as the months ticked by, I got brave and plugged the TV back in. I watched a few movies in bed (which I used to love doing and sincerely miss), and for months it’s been fine. Until last night of course.
At this point, I’m kinda hoping it’s just the Ghost of Christmas Past because that was always the one that scared me the least in the Mickey Mouse version of A Christmas Carol.

That kind of creepy stuff happens a lot. Maybe your tv/dvd player/vcr have a timer setting that is, for some unknown reason, to turn on in the middle of the night.
Oooh… Creepy! My Grandpa (Pa-Paw) used to haunt my family’s cabin. It was WEIRD.
