Tivo Whore- Who Me?
Thursday, May 17th, 2007Wow-wee, has TV gotten good again lately!!
With the recent passing of The Hills, I’ve been a bit bereft, shuffling aimlessly about my apartment, mumbling how Brody is a tool and Spencer has jowls, worrying how Heidi is faring, and craving something called Pinkberry frozen “yogurt” (a court case was filed alleging they don’t technically sell yogurt). But, but, every week when I sit in my fashion merchandising class, I whimsically think of how Lauren and I are like the same person now- minus all her money, and kickass car and apt., and posh social life, and MTV show, and- oh yeah- internship at TEEN VOGUE. Bitch.
Then, about a week ago there was the finale of Tori and Dean: Inn Love, wherein we got to *hear* her have her baby (thank you “god” for saving our somewhat less innocent eyes) without all the scary screaming and crying. And, best of all, we did see a black and white video montage of their wedding in Fiji that proved enough for me to 1) tear up, and 2) agree with myself that there is definitely something to be said for the whole just the two of you, barefoot on the beach thing. Inn Love promises to be back for seconds, as will I.
And of course, last night was the AI shocker. Although Kit feels vindicated in Melinda’s ouster, he claims he was “onto her when she forgot the words” at the beginning of her last song on Tuesday (upon Tivoing, it appears that she did in fact flub her beginning), I thought she was a given for the finale. I had quietly accepted that she would stand there on stage next week, singing some lamo song that was picked for her, in a lamo pink glitter sprinkle covered gown of tin foil that was also picked for her, and would win it all. Not so. Instead, we get a final week of something more unexpectedly spectacular: Jordin singing more “I’m 17 but I sing 60 year-old songs like the wind” and we get more of The Blake. Ah, The Blake and The Blake’s dad whose crying made me cry (I blame it on cold medicine). Also, can I just say, anyone who is *friends* with Sir Mix-a-Lot gets my proverbial vote?
And now…The Office. You didn’t think I’d seriously leave that out, did you? Holy Moly is it gonna be good!!!! After the Beach Day admission that she misses Jim, anything could happen tonight. Anything. I just don’t even know, don’t even want to guess, what will happen. Will Michael get the job? Will Karen (pretty please) leave the show through some plotline loophole? Will Jam get their love on at last? Will I be able to make it through the rest of the afternoon and merchandising class tonight without sneaking a peek at clips online?

I’m sooo excited for the Office tonight!! Like, “giddy, school girl who just got asked to the prom by the star quarterback” excited. Jim and Pam. It’s just gotta happen.
